He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at New York Hospital-Cornell University between 1980 to 1982, after graduating from the University of Chicago Division of Biological Sciences The Pritzker School of Medicine in 1977 having received a PhD in Biophysics and his MD. Dr. Stewart has extensive experience dealing with conditions of orthostatic intolerance such as postural vasovagal syncope, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and inappropriate sinus tachycardia among others. He has made noticeable contributions to the scientific literature, with many publications in renowned journals such as Circulation, Clinical Science, AJP-Heart, JAP, Clinical Autonomic Research, Circulation- Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology, and JAHA. He has conducted BESH (Basic Experimental Studies involving Humans) through NIH funding over decades. He is currently retired from pediatric practice while remaining active in research.
