Summary

  • My goal is a successful career in pediatric neurosurgery. I am dually board certified in Canada and the USA through the RCPSC and the ABPNS. I have been a pediatric neurosurgery attending since 2018 and joined the University of California Davis in 2023 as Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery and Chief of Pediatric Epilepsy. I am working with my neurosurgical colleagues to expand and build our Pediatric Neurosurgery program in order to meet all the neurosurgical needs of our pediatric population within California’s central valley. I have been fortunate to receive excellent general neurosurgical training in Vancouver and further subspecialty training in pediatric neurosurgery at both Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio. I have developed particular expertise in epilepsy, spasticity, and spinal dysraphism. I am working with our multidisciplinary team members to develop a comprehensive surgical epilepsy program and a spasticity program offering selective dorsal rhizotomy. In addition to my surgical skills, I have been involved in research and published consistently through my training and as an attending including an article on the accuracy of SEEG electrode placement in children that was given the cover page of JNS Pediatrics. I have a special passion for training and education in neurosurgery and I am involved in teaching our neurosurgery residents, advance practice providers, and nursing staff. I wish to use the skills I have developed to contribute to the care of children with neurosurgical pathology, and in research and teaching to advance the specialty.
