- Dr. Juan Calisto is a triple boarded certified pediatric surgeon within the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. He holds boards in Pediatric Surgery, General Surgery and Critical Care. He trained Pediatric surgery at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Calisto serves as the director of the Colorectal Center the first only dedicated pediatric colorectal center in the state of Florida.
Doctor Calisto is a world expert in pediatric colorectal surgery, thoracic surgery and robotic surgery.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Calisto is an active researcher and educator. He is involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, fellows, and medical house staff. He has presented his research and taught at many national and international conferences. He developed since 2014 a program to train surgeons from developing countries. In addition, he is teaching faculty of minimally invasive thoracic and abdominal surgery for the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group.
Dr. Calisto is certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery, Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Surgical Critical Care.
