Summary
- Dr. Joshua Sparling graduated from Dartmouth Medical School in 2000 and then went on active duty in the Army for 9 years. He is one of the only Army dermatologists to ever be awarded a Combat Medical Badge after an attack by Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI), while he was acting as Brigade Surgeon for 2/10 Mountain Division in the "Triangle of Death" in South Baghdad in the summer of 2007. After separating from the Army as a Major in 2009, he became the first ever dermatologist to practice in Franklin County, Maine, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, Maine. After 8 years as the only dermatologist there, he accepted a faculty position at Maine Dartmouth Family Residency Program as a dermatology staff at Maine General in the State's capital of Augusta, Maine in 2017. He sub-specializes in early skin cancer detection and treatment, along with state-of-the-art treatment of psoriasis and eczema with Biologics.
