- Dr. Joshua D. Adams, a practicing Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon is an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, Virginia. Dr. Adams started the Carilion Clinic Aortic Center and serves as it's Director.
Dr. Adams completed 10 years of residency and fellowship training at the University of Virginia Health System, combining a 4-2 Early Specialization Pathway for Vascular Surgery and the DIRECT Pathway for Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Adams has dedicated his career to treating patients with complex aortic disease using branched and fenestrated endovascular techniques, a significantly less invasive approach than conventional open surgery. Dr. Adams started the MUSC Health Complex Endovascular Aortic Program and serves as the Surgical Director of the MUSC Health Aortic Center. He has successfully completed over 60 branched/fenestrated endovascular aortic aneurysm repairs at MUSC, more than any other physician in the state of South Carolina.
Dr. Adams’s academic interests include open and endovascular surgical simulation, advanced hybrid and endovascular techniques and novel endovascular devices. He served as the Assistant Director of Surgical Simulation at the Simulation Center of South Carolina on MUSC’s Downtown Campus. Dr. Adams has been the PI or co-investigator on more than 20 clinical trials and has twice been formally acknowledged as an MUSC Recognized Research Innovator.
