- Dr. Joseph Zikria joined the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2019 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology. Prior to joining the University of Miami, he worked as an attending interventional radiologist at the Memorial Healthcare System in Broward County, FL, where he also served as the Vice-Chairman of Radiology at Memorial Hospital West and Clinical Affiliate Assistant Professor at the Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine. He received his bachelor’s degree from New York University on a College of Arts and Science scholarship and his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Science Center of Brooklyn. He then completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where he served as the chief resident. Following residency, he completed his fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Yale University School of Medicine, Yale-New Haven Hospital.
He has authored and co-authored multiple scientific articles and abstracts in medical journals, including the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology and the American Journal of Roentgenology. He has also presented his research at several national conferences. Dr. Zikria is the recipient of the RSNA resident research award and the RSNA/AUR/ARRS Academic Radiology Meeting Scholarship award. He is board-certified in both diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology. He is a member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, American College of Radiology, and Radiological Society of North America. In addition to being a clinician and researcher, Dr. Zikria is an active teacher of fellows, residents, and medical students.
Dr. Zikria’s clinical interests include interventional oncology, pulmonary embolism, deep venous thrombosis, peripheral arterial disease, vertebral compression fractures, and dialysis access.
