He received his education at the New York University School of Medicine, class of 1987, and also completed his residency there from 1987 to 1991. He later attended the Public Psychiatry Fellowship at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons from 1996 to 1997. Since 2011, he has been in private practice and is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Medicine, and Science Education at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell (ZSOM).
