- Joseph E. Snavely, M.D. is a board-certified orthopaedic spine surgeon with fellowship training at Northwestern University in Chicago in both neurosurgical and orthopaedic spine surgery. He has specific training and interest in minimally invasive spine surgery, surgical and non-surgical treatment of degenerative spinal disorders and scoliosis deformity, as well as complex revision spine surgery.
Dr. Snavely is a Central Florida native who obtained his medical degree at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at Orlando Health, including a year serving as Chief Resident. This was followed by a year of fellowship training specializing in spine surgery at Northwestern University.
Returning to Central Florida, Dr. Snavely joined The Spine & Scoliosis Center, a highly respected spinal surgery practice serving the area for over 30 years. He was one of the first surgeons in the country to use the 7D Surgical image guided navigation system. 7D is now routinely utilized for safer and more efficient spinal surgery, while reducing radiation exposure.
Dr. Snavely is a faculty surgeon with the Orlando Health Orthopaedic Surgery Residency. He is involved in research and has authored peer-reviewed publications in well-respected spine surgery and orthopaedic surgery journals. He has presented his research at numerous scientific meetings at the international, national, and state levels receiving multiple awards for his presented work.
Dr. Snavely’s goal is to provide the highest quality of spine care, treating each patient as if they were a member of his own family. His focus is to ensure that each patient is educated on their available treatment options and stays actively involved in the decision-making process. Dr. Snavely provides services across the Central Florida area with office locations in Lake, Orange, and Polk counties and is on the medical staff at both Orlando Health and Advent Health.
