Summary

  • I am José G. Valedón, MD, an adult neurologist, clinical neurophysiologist and epileptologist, and recently joined the Neuro Performance and Injury Center, PLLC medical staff.

After practicing in the National Intrepid Center of Excellence, Intrepid Spirit III, a multidisciplinary Brain Injury Clinic, at Fort Campbell, KY, my interests in head trauma strengthened and evolved.

I received my MD degree from Ponce School of Medicine/Ponce Health Sciences University, in Ponce, PR. I am fluent in Spanish and have practiced in different roles for 35 years. My Neurology practice, with board certification in Neurology, and Clinical Neurophysiology is the highlight of my career. My interest and experience in treating TBI, Headaches, Epilepsy, Stroke, EEG, Parkinson's and Neurodegenerative diseases continue to grow, and the recent discoveries, research and technological advances in Neurosciences inspire me.

I completed a Transitional Medicine Internship at Maryland General Hospital/University of Maryland Medical Center, in Baltimore, MD, followed by 3 years of Public Health Service commitment in the Indian Health Service. I practiced general, emergency and ambulatory care, and assisted in Surgery, as a general practitioner at Choctaw Nation Indian Health Authority in Talihina and Broken Bow, OK. This obligation was followed by an Adult Neurology Residency, and a 2 years Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

I have enjoyed different roles including Private Practice for15 years, Locum Tenens Neurohospitalist; and short periods in Academic and Neurohospitalist practices. This is the most exciting period in Medicine and Neurosciences with available unparalleled effective treatments for Stroke, Epilepsy, Migraine, Critical Care, Genetic and degenerative diseases of nervous system. I look forward to continuing to learn, grow and develop experience to help my patients conditions, symptoms and quality of life.
