Summary

• Dr. Jordan Howard-Young is a Family Medicine physician with a subspecialty in Primary Care Psychiatry, based in Worcester, MA, and Fort Collins, CO. They completed their residency in Family Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School and hold an MD from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. Additionally, they obtained a master's degree in International Development, Global Health, and Humanitarian Assistance from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, spending six months in the Middle East studying the political factors impacting access to health care among Palestinian refugees. Dr. Howard-Young has served in multiple roles, including Director of Psychiatric Services and Provider Lead of Integrated and Primary Care Psychiatry at the Family Health Center of Worcester, and as an Assistant Professor of both Psychiatry and Family Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School. They serve as Program Director for the innovative FHCW/UMass Chan Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship, as well as the FHCW site Program Director for the MLCHC/UMass PMHNP Fellowship. They are the Course Co-Director of the Certificate in Advanced Mental Healthcare in Primary Care at the UMass Chan Center for Integrated Primary Care. They have expertise in complex and attachment trauma and are a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. Their other clinical and academic interests include perinatal psychiatry, OCD, eating disorders, cultural psychiatry, psychopharmacology, psychiatric nosology, anti-racism and oppression, gender-affirming care, patient-centered models of care, participatory community development, curriculum design, and multidisciplinary approaches to community psychiatry. Prior to their career in medicine, Dr. Howard-Young worked in community organizing, US healthcare policy, and public health.
