  • Jonathan K. West, MD, FAWM, RPVI earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA, went on to complete an internship in General Surgery, and his Diagnostic and Vascular Interventional Radiology residency and fellowship at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville. He was a part of the unique VIR Clinical Pathway at UVA, the predecessor to the Dual Certificate IR Residency Programs. He earned the designation of Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine through independent study during medical school and residency and earned Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation designation following fellowship. Dr. West was among the first class to be awarded dual Board Certification in Diagnostic Radiology and Vascular Interventional Radiology.
    Dr. West currently works at Lexington Medical Center with Lexington Radiology Associates specializing in Vascular and Interventional Radiology concentrating on minimally invasive image guided procedures. He has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of arterial and venous disease, hepatobiliary disease, portal venous disease, embolic therapy, ablation and chemoembolization Interventional Oncology treatments, stroke intervention as well as additional percutaneous, image guided, minimally invasive procedures. Commonly performed procedures include angioplasty and stenting of mesenteric and peripheral arteries( using the latest drug eluting stents, drug coated balloons, and atherectomy devices), embolization for bleeding control, uterine artery embolization for fibroids, chemoembolization and ablation for liver tumors, thrombectomy and deep vein stenting for DVT and May-Thurner Syndrome, thrombolysis of pulmonary arteries for PE and extremity arteries for ischemia, gonadal vein embolization, thrombectomy for stroke, Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS), and Balloon Occluded Retrograde Transvenous Obliteration of Varices (BRTO).
