Summary

• I am a board certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and a Psychiatric Pharmacy Specialist (BCPP). I earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Pacific School of Pharmacy in Stockton, California. Following graduation, I completed a pharmacy practice residency at the VA San Diego Healthcare System and a fellowship at the University of California, San Diego with an emphasis in Geriatric Psychiatry. My clinical and research interests are primarily devoted to schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, geriatric psychiatry and the optimal use of psychopharmacologic therapies. My current clinical responsibilities include providing medication management services in a Cognitive Disorders Clinic. Previous research activities include serving as a co-investigator of clinical trials for most of the atypical antipsychotics and mental health services research having served as Principal Investigator of an NIMH-supported grant on “Medication Adherence Therapy in Older Psychotic People” and co-investigator of the NIMH-funded Geriatric Psychiatry Center for Community-Based Research in Older People with Psychoses at UCSD. I have authored or coauthored articles published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, American Journal of Psychiatry, Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology and Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. My clinical responsibilities include providing medication management services in a Cognitive Disorders Clinic. Currently, I oversee the education of pharmacy students and residents at VA San Diego and proudly serve on the VA Pharmacy Residency Advisory Board.
