Summary
- I am a specialist/consultant in Dermatology.
I practice general Dermatology and basic procedural Dermatology with clinical interests in tropical/infectious diseases, skin cancer, and rheumatological diseases. I currently practice at an academic and military medical center in Portsmouth, Virginia with primarily inpatient and outpatient clinical responsibilities. I also teach as well as do clinical research and organize skin cancer community outreach projects.
I have a particular interest in medical education, and instruct corpsmen, nurses, physician assistants, interns, residents and primary care physicians in tropical, general and procedural Dermatology through on-hand patient encounters, as well as lectures. I have also served as faculty for South American field missions for the Military Tropical Medicine course for military primary care physicians. In addition, I am interested in epidemiology. Currently, I am researching allergic contact dermatitis and syphilis in the military.
For over a decade, I have provided medical writing and copyediting services to biomedical publishing companies. I am particularly adept at translating complex biomedical topics and research and clinical manuscripts into prose that lay readers can understand. I have written press releases, educational material, and ghost-written review articles for such publisher as John Wiley & Sons as well as SanovaWorks.
