Summary
- Welcome to my Doximity site, I look forward to connecting with you! I am passionate about my work and about life! Over the course of my professional career, I have worked to cultivate proficiencies in four primary areas: healer, teacher, scientist, and leader.
In terms of my role as healer; I am a board certified psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of psychological trauma and addiction. I am Medical Director of Meadows Behavioral Health, a world-renowned behavioral health company with several treatment centers. My clinical approach is heavily influenced by the healing power of authentic presence and heart-felt compassion.
One of my most treasured roles and callings in life is that of teacher. For over a decade I have been teaching individuals about how childhood adversity influences health and wellbeing. I continue to teach and mentor the next generation of healers in my role as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona.
My role as scientist has taken some time to develop. After years of training in medicine and psychiatry, I went on to obtain a Ph.D. in Human Development from the University of California at Davis. My research explores how childhood maltreatment impacts attachment relationships and cognitive-emotional processes. Recently, I have been investigating the positive effects of mindfulness as a means of healing attachment-related wounds.
My role as leader is really about the opportunity to connect with others. I travel nationally and internationally to speak on topics such as childhood maltreatment, attachment theory, emotion regulation, mindfulness, and more (see upcoming events at www.drjoncaldwell.com). I also conduct intensive workshops on how to use mindfulness and self-compassion to heal attachment-related wounds (learn more at www.healingisinreach.com).
As humans, we have an innate drive to share our ideas and our love. We long to belong… to connect. Thank you for connecting with me!
