Summary
- I have been board-certified in Emergency Medicine since 2001, having started my journey in medicine through the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by my emergency medicine residency at the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. I have worked in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and now in the beautiful state of North Carolina.
From 2008-2023, I worked at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC with one of the best ER groups. I retired from emergency medicine in 2023 to pursue another area of medicine.
I opened a Functional & Integrative Medicine practice in 2013 as a means of expanding my knowledge and breadth in medicine, and to focus on health rather than simply treating symptoms and disease. This practice gradually grew over the years, and I now perform this full-time. It has been one of the best growth experiences in medicine for me, and I have witnessed some of the greatest transformations in health than I ever have in almost 3 decades of emergency medicine practice. I have been able to put that education in physiology, biochemistry, anatomy, and microbiology to good use. Every patient and every day are new & enriching experiences.
Addressing root causes and utilizing dietary and lifestyle modifications as the primary means of treatment, reserving pharmaceutical options for when they are most needed or appropriate, but always with a plan of reducing or eliminating them when possible. In Emergency Medicine, I addressed acute conditions and delivered life-saving treatments. In Functional Medicine, I address chronic symptoms & conditions and can deliver life-altering recommendations with improvements in health span and longevity. I now assist people in hopefully staying out of the ER, and not establishing a dependence on the healthcare system.
