Summary

• My name is John Michalak and I am a full-time Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) at Ocean Radiology Associates located in New London, CT. My duties involve interviewing patients and performing procedures related to their acute or chronic illnesses.
  
  I previously worked as a part-time RN at Southeast Health, a partnered hospital with the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) in Dothan, AL. I also recently resigned from a full-time position as paramedic supervisor/EMS Chief at the Town of Rehobeth Fire & Rescue where I served as member, mentor, and EMS Instructor.
  
  I have been involved in healthcare for the last 14 years in many different settings: emergency medicine/EMS, invasive cardiology and radiology, cardiothoracic and trauma ICU. I am currently licensed as an APRN in the State of Connecticut, licensed RN in the States of Alabama, Connecticut and Massachusetts and licensed Paramedic in the States of Alabama, Connecticut and Nationally Registered through NREMT. I have worked alongside many residents, fellows and attendings in level I trauma centers throughout Alabama, Boston, Cape Cod and Connecticut caring for acute cardiac emergencies and advanced interventional radiology procedures.
  
  I’ve researched, trained and aided in the implementation of the Abiomed ® Impella device used during cardiogenic shock following an acute myocardial infarction at St. Francis Medical Center in Hartford, CT.
  
  Following my studies at UAB, I continued my medical career in New London, CT and now, in my spare time I would like to continue educating members of the EMS community and intermittently working as a paramedic caring for the citizens of New London County and the surrounding areas.
