- John Metersky, M.D., is a board-certified general and robotic surgeon with Surgical Associates of Richmond. Dr. Metersky earned his Medical Doctorate and completed his general surgery residency training at University of Texas Health Sciences Center, in San Antonio. He also graduated with honors from Indiana University, with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and chemistry. Dr. Metersky specializes in minimally invasive abdominal surgery, with a special interest in benign and malignant diseases of the stomach, small and large intestine, as well as simple and complex hernia repair. Dr. Metersky is certified by the American Board of Surgery and has more than 20 years of surgical experience. In addition to direct patient care, he is a lecturer and instructor of robotic surgery for Intuitive Surgical, and an expert reviewer for C-SATS®, an organization focused on surgical quality improvement. Dr. Metersky was an Adjunct Professor of Surgery for University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. When not seeing patients, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, hiking, fishing, and studying physics.
