Dr. John Littlefield serves as the Medical Director of The River Health and Wellness Center, bringing over 25 years of experience caring for patients of all ages. He earned his MD from Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed his residency in Akron, OH, before returning home to Massachusetts in 1996. Board-certified in Emergency Medicine, he took a new career path in 2022 and now enjoys working in a Family Practice setting.
He embraces a holistic approach to healthcare, recognizing the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. Passionate about building lasting, collaborative relationships with his patients, he prioritizes personalized care rooted in mutual respect and medical freedom.
Dr. Littlefield’s faith inspires his commitment to service, leading him on medical mission trips to Honduras, Ecuador, China, and Senegal. At home in Berkley, he and his wife, an artist and potter, care for alpacas, goats, chickens, and a cat. Their three grown children are pursuing their own dreams.
An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Littlefield loves exploring New England’s waterways through canoeing, kayaking, and camping. In 2020, he accomplished a solo paddle of the 740-mile Northern Forest Canoe Trail from New York to Maine—a testament to his adventurous spirit.
