Research History

  • The combination of three newer shunt design features evaluated by a matched cohort comparison to the past North American Shunt Design TrialAt four years after implantation, new shunt systems that combine the three features of programmable valve, over-drainage protection device and antibiotic impregnated catheter were nearly twice as likely to survive (81% versus 41% survival) than the shunts evaluated in the Drake/Kestle study in 2000.2002 - 2009
