- John Battalino graduated from Pennsylvania Military College / Widner College in Chester, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and Pre-Medical Minor in 1967. John attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine attaining his Medical Degree in 1974. He then completed his Internship with the University of Pennsylvania in medicine and his neurology residency with the New York Medical College @ St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in 1984.
John became an Instructor at the University of New Mexico in the Emergency Medicine and Family Practice Department in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he trained Medical Residents and wrote a federal grant for the implementation of health care sites on Native American Reservations. He managed and directed the implementation and operation of the Sandia - Monzano Mountain Health Center as drafted under the Health In Under–Deprived Rural Areas ( HURA GRANT # 06-D000550-02) with UNM in Cedar Crest, New Mexico, from 1977-1981.
John was offered a position of Chief Medical Officer / Medical Director with the State of California. He was assigned to oversee the Licensing of the Inpatient / Outpatient Services with the Department of Health Services at the California Men’s Colony Prison in San Luis Obispo, CA. John created a Medical Staff structure as well as Policies and Procedures for all Medical Nursing and Ancillary Services. John managed an operational budget in excess of $5 Million as well as the daily operations of the CMC Licensed Hospital and Outpatient Clinic, from 1985 – 1998.
In 1998, John was then offered the Sacramento headquarters position of Chief of Medical / Dental Services for the Department of Corrections 33 outpatient clinics and 4 Licensed Acute Care Hospitals for the state of California. John’s responsibilities included drafting the Department of Corrections “Medical Scope of Practice” which was signed into law in 1998. His duties as Medical Director of all CDC Medical /Dental
