- Joel L. Cohen, MD is an internationally recognized expert in aesthetics and skin cancer. He is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Fellowship-trained in both Mohs surgery and Laser/Aesthetic Dermatology. Dr. Cohen serves as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Dept. of Dermatology of the University University of California Irvine.
He has been named a Top Dermatologist by US News and World Report and voted as a Colorado “Top Doc” 9 times by 5280 Magazine. Dr. Cohen lectures regularly at both national and international meetings and participates in many clinical trials. He has published more than 280 medical articles and book chapters. He has co-authored 3 academic textbooks: Regional Rejuvenation (McGraw-Hill), Reconstructive Conundrums in Dermatologic Surgery (Wiley-Blackwell) and Botulinum Toxins Cosmetic and Clinical Applications (Wiley-Blackwell).
He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan and Brandeis University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. He received his MD degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and graduated with Honors. He has been designated as a teaching instructor by both the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) preceptorship program and the American Society of Laser in Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) preceptorship program. He has been a recipient of the ASDS Public Service Award, the ASCDAS Distinguished Service Award, the ASDS International Traveling Mentorship Award, the ASDS Excellence in Education Award, and the Humanitarian of the Year Award by the MRP.
