• Dr. Joanne “Jo” Schmidt is a Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years combined experience in nursing and as a primary care provider. She is a dedicated and caring healthcare professional with a philosophy of holistic well-being. Currently, she runs a concierge medicine practice in Manhattan.
  
  Dr. Schmidt received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY College at Brockport where she was a Ronald E. McNair Scholar. She received her Master of Science in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at New York University where she was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Dr. Schmidt then received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Yale University. While attending Yale, she was awarded the Donna Diers Merit Scholarship and a fellowship award from the Gruber Foundation for her research on violence prevention in healthcare.
  
  During her career, Dr. Schmidt has provided care in a variety of settings including hospitals, community health, private practice, and concierge medicine. She has managed the medical clinics for both the NYC Administration for Children’s Services and school-based health clinics. She has had her work on workplace violence prevention published twice in peer-reviewed journals and has given lectures at conferences, online platforms, and Yale University. In 2018, Dr. Schmidt served on the American Nurses Association Professional Issues Panel on workplace violence.
  
  Dr. Schmidt is accredited by both the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority, and Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. She is the recipient of the 2015 Isaac Liberman Public Service Award and was recognized in 2021 by the Nevada Nurses Foundation as a “Shining Star in Nursing”.
