Summary

  • Jessika Brasseaux is a Board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Earning a B.A. from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, she worked in business/hospitality/tourism for thirteen years in Louisiana, where her experience volunteering during Hurricane Katrina subsequently led to a meaningful career change. After obtaining an MSN from Yale School of Nursing ’15, Jessika joined Yale-New Haven Hospital’s Behavioral Intervention Team—a first of its kind, nationally replicated, proactive psychiatric consult-liaison model. She assisted in the development of the Behavioral Emergency Support Team, a patient-centered approach to caring for medically hospitalized patients experiencing acute behavioral crisis. She was a primary architect in the creation of a multi-agency community partnership for rapid recognition, induction and referral to treatment for patients struggling with opioid use disorder and a charter member of the YNHH psycho-oncology collaborative care pilot. Jessika continues to work at YNHH, where her special interests include adult & geriatric psychiatry, substance use disorders, chronic traumatic brain injury and psycho-oncology. In 2020, Jessika went into private practice and opened Magnolia Behavioral Health, PLLC, where she strives to improve clients’ overall quality of life by providing evidence-based medication management and psychotherapy through patient-centered care and a whole-person approach.
