He received his medical degree from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and his internal medicine residency and Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. He presently leads the Johns Hopkins Human Aging Project where engineering, biological and clinical translational research programs are working to improve frailty and promote resliency in older adults. He also is the co-principal investigator of NIA funded center grants entitled Older Americans Independence Center and Artificial Intelligence and Technology Collaboratory.
    Major publication profiles are related to frailty, chronic inflammatory pathway activation, and more recently physical resiliency. He speaks German and attends many international summits related to aging. He has more than 350 publications and over 56,000 citations.
