Summary

  • Jenny has 3 years of general surgery resident experience (2 years at FAU School of Medicine and 1 year at IU School of medicine).

Jenny graduated Cum Laude from Cornell University with her bachelors degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in 2010. She then completed post-bac Biomaterials research at Boston University as a Visiting Scientist until 2012 when she joined the Indiana University Medical Scientist Training Program. She graduated in 2020 with her combined medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University.

Jenny completed her PhD thesis work in the Laboratory of Engineered Therapeutics under Alyssa Panitch. She advanced to candidacy in June 2016 and completed her thesis research defense in March 2018. Her thesis project involves the use of novel peptide-derived therapeutics that bind to collagen matrices in chronic wound beds and stimulate angiogenesis in a targeted and controlled manner. The development of these therapeutics have the potential to accelerate healing in many different types of ischemic wounds, including ischemic diabetic foot ulcers. The goal is to stimulate new vessel growth to bolster regeneration in the chronic ischemic wound bed.

Professional development activities include poster presentations at the 2015 tissue regeneration Gordon conference, 2016 signal transduction by engineered extracellular matrices Gordon conference, 2017 San Diego glycobiology symposium, and the 2017 translational science conference. She currently has 2 first-authored publications (1 review articles and 1 nanoparticle therapy publication) and 4 second-authored publications as well as 1 planned publications on her current thesis work within the upcoming year. As a graduate student she received the CTSI Award (2016-2017 academic year) and the Purdue Bilsland Fellowship (2017-2018 academic year). Jenny was funded by the diabetes T32 during the 2015-2016 academic year.
