Summary

• Dr. Jenny Willard’s colleagues have often joked that she is a true North Carolina pediatrician since she grew up and was educated in the Piedmont area of NC. After earning her undergraduate degree through Davidson College in Davidson, NC, she ventured east to University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC, for medical school. During medical school, she worked with the Head Start Program at the Newton Grove Migrant Health Care Clinic. After medical school, she relocated to Charlotte, NC, for her internship and residency in general pediatrics at Carolinas Medical Center. One of her greatest joys was practicing in her hometown of Charlotte, NC, for the first 20 years of her career. This tenure allowed her to witness babies become children and develop into teens and young adults. She will never forget watching many of her patients become parents and return (with the grandparents) where they established her as their baby's pediatrician!
  
  Dr. Willard’s clinical interests are comprehensive. She enjoys all aspects of pediatrics, including well care where she focuses on development and anticipatory guidance. She feels very comfortable managing childhood illness, allergies, asthma, mental health and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
  
  Her approach to patient care is collaborative. She listens to what the parent/guardian and the patient share with her in each encounter. She understands that communication is critical in medicine and especially pediatrics. Interacting with babies, children, teens and young adults regarding their health care and answering their questions brings her great joy.
  
  Outside of work, Dr. Willard likes to garden and take hikes in the NC mountains. She loves visiting her two grownup children and spending time with her two goldendoodles.
