- Dr. Westrup is currently the Medical Director, and a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Beacon Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.
Dr. Westrup joined the newly built Beacon Hospital in 2007 as the first full-time Medical Oncologist. In November 2008, Dr. Westrup was appointed the Section Chief of Oncology under the new hospital operator: the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre. She has served as the Section Chief until the present time.
Dr. Westrup served as the Director of Education for Beacon Hospital from 2008 – 2014.
She was invited to be a member of the International Quality and Patient Safety Committee of UPMC. This committee has oversight for quality and patient safety in the UPMC international division and benchmarks against case-mix equivalent hospital’s in the UPMC system.
Dr. Westrup was a member of the original Beacon Hospital Board from 2007 – 2008, and was also the Chairperson of the Beacon Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for 3 years.
Dr. Westrup is a member of ICORG, the All Ireland Cooperative Oncology Research Group. Her research on breast cancer in elderly women and triple negative breast cancer has been presented at international conferences, and is published in peer reviewed journals. She is also on the Scientific Committee of the Irish Melanoma Forum.
Dr. Westrup graduated Cum Laude from Wake Forest University with a BSc in Biology and earned her medical degree with honours at University College Dublin. She completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Boston University Medical Center, was Resident Teacher of the Year and was awarded the CREST scholarship; a National Institute of Health Grant. Dr. Westrup completed a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Boston University Medical Center. She was honoured as Chief Fellow and is dual American Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology.
