Summary
- My purpose is to provide exceptional care in the prevention of and care for those with liver disease. My aim is to be an active partner of an integrated clinical practice, where education and research complements the art of medicine in a seamless and organized system.
I am a board-certified internist, gastroenterologist, and transplant hepatologist, resolute in my desire to focus on the needs of patients. In hepatology, this is a balance between preventative medicine and care of those who have advanced liver disease. Advancements in hepatology have revolutionized the field, however there is far more work ahead and I am eager to partner in approaching this in innovative ways. I understand the challenges and frustrations of chronic illness and strive to provide the support needed for patients on their journey.
My medical tenure includes time at three highly regarded transplant programs. Most recently, I pioneered the first Transplant Hepatology practice in Austin, TX, where I currently reside. I launched two outreach clinics in communities without Hepatology care despite the highest rates of cirrhosis and liver cancer in the country. These clinics have been instrumental in bridging the access of care between patients and life-saving liver transplantation.
Hepatology and liver transplantation are most successful when taking a multi-disciplinary approach. I have organized hepatopathology conferences as well as multi-specialty tumor boards with positive results. These conferences proved educational for the team as well as constructive in the care of complicated patients. Lastly, I have and will continue to educate and mentor future clinicians and see this as imperative for the field and patient care.
