- Dr. Severe has several years of experience in healthcare, academia, leadership, and advocacy nationally and internationally. Her work focuses on health equity and early access to evidence-based care through collaboration, innovation, and technology. Dr. Severe’s clinical interests encompass Mood disorders (Treatment Resistant Depression, Depressive disorders and Bipolar illnesses). She provides consultation and support to several Michigan Medicine primary care clinics providing mental health care to their patients.
Dr. Severe informs policy through research, action papers and communications with legislators. She is an expert member at the University of Michigan Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI). She is also an active member of several professional organizations and has served as a consultant for the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Council of International Psychiatry and co-developed the International Poster Engagement Program for the APA annual meetings.
