Summary
- I no longer was able to work in the culture of my previous employer. I left for an 10 day educational seminar and 4 days of vacation and when I returned I was informed that I had violated a clause in my contract and no longer was employed. Instead of pursuing further legal action, I took some time off to consider my options. Though I miss my patients and continue to be concerned for the community, I have tried to help my family navigate the healthcare "industry." I've been at my parents’ side as Mom had 4 hospitalizations and 3 surgeries over the last year, as well as providing home-care for her ADLs. I was able to be with Dad as he underwent surgery, a prolonged rehab, a decline in health resulting in a hospice stay and ultimately his death. I've been glad to be with them, but also realize my great sorrow over the delivery of "healthcare" in my surroundings, and the nation. I'm considering putting together a workbook to help families that may not have a member of the healthcare industry to help them through these situations! I have over 300 hours in acupuncture training and would like to pursue this course of study, as the ideals align more closely with my own.
