Summary
- Dr. Mueller spent most of her childhood in Southern California. She moved to Virginia her senior year in high school, and chose Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude for both her undergraduate degree in Biology in 1999 and Master's degree in neuroendocrinology in 2001. When it came time to choose a medical school, she chose Eastern Virginia Medical School. It had everything that she could have ever wanted, and it was 10 minutes away from her family so she got to spend those four years with her younger sister who was in high school at the time. As a first-year, she started the first of the many medical missions she has undertaken over the years in the Appalachian Mountains. In 2005 she was awarded the National Service Award for volunteerism by The American Medical Association. In her final year of medical school, she was selected to study at the University of Edinburgh for two months, and worked at the Western General Hospital. In her third year of medical school, she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, a society only awarded to the top medical students across the country.
She was accepted into her dermatology residency and began training at Drexel University in Philadelphia in 2005. She completed her internal medicine year in 2006 and went on to dermatology residency at Drexel University and completed her residency in 2009. In her last year of residency, she was awarded the American Academy of Dermatology Residents International Grant and partnered with the University Of Pennsylvania to work as a dermatologist in Botswana. She achieved her board certification in Dermatology in 2009 and re-certified in 2019. Dr. Mueller has had numerous publications and presentations throughout her career. Most recently, in June of 2019, Dr. Mueller was invited to present at the World Congress of Dermatology in Milan, Italy concerning th concerning the resurgence of Pellagra in developed countries.
