• Dr. Jennifer Downs is a psychiatrist based in Hartford, CT, with a sub-specialization in child and adolescent psychiatry. Her education includes a residency in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Child-Adolescent Psychiatry at Brown University following graduation from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2011. She currently holds board certifications in all three specialties in which she was trained. She is passionate about providing high-quality care to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs with special interest in the intersection of mental and physical health. She has over 8 years of experience in a variety of acute care settings: providing psychiatric consultation for pediatric emergency departments, medical/surgical inpatient units, and outpatient clinics; providing care for children and adolescents admitted to inpatient psychiatry units; and providing outpatient psychiatric care in day treatment programs and urgent care clinics for youths. She is committed to advancing the field of child and adolescent psychiatry through improving care delivery at a systemic level and has held multiple leadership positions allowing her to design new programming including psychiatric emergency consultation service lines, a med-psych inpatient unit, and psychiatric urgent care clinics. Dr. Downs also has multiple published works, among them articles in Hospital Pediatrics, Frontiers in Psychiatry, and Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics. She has presented repeatedly at the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and speaks with local news outlets about topics of interest in child mental health.
