Summary

  • His major research interest is myeloproliferative disease. In his early years, he cultured bone marrow fibroblasts and then conducted cytogenetic studies, which substantiated that bone marrow.fibrosis in primary myelofibrosis is a secondary event due to stem cell defects. Later, he discovered that the IGF-1 receptor assay can help establish polycythemia better than the standard criteria. He
was also the first to publish that MDSC cells increase in MPN and the first to publish that PD-1 and PDL-1 are increased in MPN. Recently, he discovered that TLR-2 is the driving force for inflammatory cytokines and thrombosis in MPN. He has also published extensively about case studies related to lymphoma, myeloma, HTLV-1 lymphoma, and LGL (large granular lymphocytes),
having published a total of 110 peer-reviewed papers.
