- Jeffrey Okamoto M.D. is a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician for Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. He particularly supports children with developmental disabilities including autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, and intellectual disabilities. He also has many patients with genetic syndromes and complex medical needs.
He is faculty for the John A. Burns School of Medicine and trains medical students and residents on normal and abnormal child development and behavior.
He was "Professional of the Year" for the Special Parent Information Network in 2018.
He was the medical director of the Developmental Disabilities Division for the State of Hawaii Department of Health until 2018. He was Manager of the Year for the Department of Health in 2015 and was also awarded a Sustained Superior Performance certificate.
He was also the former Chairperson for the national executive committee of the Council on School Health for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He co-authored several policy statements and authored the section on Populations with Unique Needs in the AAP manual "School Health: Policy and Practice, 7th edition" published in 2016.
