Summary

  • Jeffrey Jenkins, MD, is the program director of the UVA Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Training Program and director of the department’s electrodiagnostic laboratory. Dr. Jenkins was elected to the University of Virginia’s Academy of Distinguished Educators in 2006 and was named a UVA School of Medicine GME Master Educator in 2020. He serves as Vice Chair of the Graduate Medical Education Committee at UVA and previously served as Chair of the GME Committee for the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM). Dr. Jenkins also served as the PM&R representative to the Organization of Program Directors Associations. He served on the ACGME working group that developed Milestones 2.0, the formal system of resident competency assessment employed by all PM&R residency training programs in the United States. More recently, he chaired the Association of Academic Physiatrists' Residency and Fellowship Program Directors' Subcouncil charged with improving PM&R graduate medical education, with a special focus on the UME-to-GME transition, including the residency application cycle.
