Overview of Dr. Abergel
Jeffrey Abergel is a board-certified gastroenterologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group, Hudson Valley. He treats an array of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary disorders but has a particular interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis). He performs upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography, and videocapsule endoscopy.
After earning his medical degree at the Sackler School of Medicine in Israel, Dr. Abergel completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He then completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Rutgers- Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine in New Jersey.
Dr. Abergel was previously on faculty at Hofstra-Northwell School of Medicine at Staten Island University Hospital in New York.
In 2015, Dr. Abergel was honored by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America charity “Take Steps” Walk on Staten Island.
Dr. Abergel has had his research published in medical journals and textbooks. Additionally, his work has been
presented at national meetings of the American College of Gastroenterology.
