- Dr Kovar is a board certified emergency physician and has worked locally at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, Tomball Regional Medical Center, St Luke’s Community Medical Center The Woodlands, First Choice ER, and past Medical Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Conroe Regional Medical Center, Conroe, Texas. He has served as the Director of the Montgomery County Hospital District EMS and now PHI Air Medical EMS for Texas;
Dr Kovar has been a key contributor to the Acute Cardiac Care program at Conroe Regional Medical Center, as well has having begun Montgomery County’s first Acute Stroke Treatment Center and Level III Trauma Center.
He has been Principle Investigator and author for numerous clinical investigations for innovation in EMS and Emergency Care. MCHD EMS has been recognized by the Texas Department of Health as Public Service Provider of the Year 2002 and by the National Association of EMS Physicians as the Showcase Service Award for 2003.
Dr Kovar was presented the 2008 Emergency Physician of the Year by the Greater Houston EMS Council for his efforts at promoting Emergency Medicine in the area and EMS education. In 2009 and 2011 he was selected into America's Top Emergency Physicians for 2009 by the Consumers' Research Council of America.
Current additions to these tasks include the production of critical care protocols for Sepsis and Psychiatric emergencies and organized a mutlidisciplinary approach to prescription abuse issues by physicians and patients for our area.
