Summary
- Dr. Mayer graduated from Boston College and received his medical degree from Drexel University. After an internal medicine internship at Hahnemann University Hospital, he completed his ophthalmology residency at Penn State University and received an award for research in cataract surgery outcomes. As a resident, Dr. Mayer attended the Triservice Ocular Trauma Course at Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD. Finally, he concluded his training with a fellowship in cornea and anterior segment surgery at the world renowned Wills Eye Hospital, one of the top eye hospitals in the country. During his time there, Dr. Mayer served as a clinical instructor of ophthalmology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Mayer’s clinical interests focus on medical and surgical management of corneal and external disease of the eye as well as complex cataract surgery and anterior segment reconstruction. He has a strong commitment to missionary work and has served on medical missions to the Philippines and Bolivia, performing manual small incision cataract surgery for those in need. Outside of the office, Dr. Mayer spends his time with his beautiful wife, their son Jack and their dogs in the great Colorado outdoors. He enjoys cycling, running, hiking, kayaking, and camping.
