Summary
- I am the director of First Health's department of physical medicine. A 2003 graduate of Chicago Medical School, I did my internship at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, where I was awarded Resident of the Year in 2004. My interest in the proper function of the human frame and nervous system lead me to specialize in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). I completed my residency in PM&R at the Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital in Chicago where I became chief resident in 2006
I specialize in the treatment of headaches. In 2009, I established the First Health Headache Clinic to offer patients an integrated approach to treating their headaches. The strong link between the body's chemistries, neurologic patterns, and muscle and joint functions supports the use of the latest in headache medicines, combined with appropriate non-medicinal therapies.
The specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is also know as Physiatry (pronounced fizz-I-ah-tree). Today's PM&R doctors specialize in directing and supervising the care of patients who are need of multiple specialties. PM&R doctors are well versed in both neurology and orthopedics. Physiatrists commonly coordinate the care of conditions such as: spinal cord injuries; sports injuries; stroke; spine and joint pain; industrial and auto injuries; fibromyalgia; chronic pain; and traumatic brain injury. There are approximately 7,500 board certified PM&R doctors practicing in the U.S.
