Summary
- In addition to the listed medical training,
I am a 1965 graduate of Woodberry Forest High School, Woodberry Forest Virginia. I worked part time, as a nursing aid for 3 years before medical school. I graduated from Emory at Oxford College in 1967, and Emory University in 1968(I am listed as 1969).
I am a retired board-certified radiologist, with fellowship training in neuroradiology/vascular radiology. I also performed interventional radiology.
I worked in hospitals for 50.5 years. Currently licensed to practice in Georgia (for 50 years). Licensed to practice in South Carolina for 1 year (1972-1973).
I served with the USMC(Marine Corp Supple Center-Albany, Georgia) as a Navy medical officer 1973-1975.
I was a part time emergency room physician for over 8 years.
I was the medical director of the School of Radiology Technology at Kennestone Hospital for 26 years. I practiced at Kennestone Hospital for 36.5 years.
I have trained/worked in nearly 30 hospitals.
Medicine should be a calling, but had progressed into a profession, and is now a "job". Medicine has become corporate.
The current medical trainees are limited in the number of hours they are allowed to "work". This goes against "the strongest steel is made in the hottest fire".
I have concern - "who is going to take care of my family, or me?"
It is better to watch the patient, and not the clock.
Before 1960, Medicine was a calling
1960-1990, Medicine was a profession
1990-present, Medicine is a job, hopefully 9-4, with no weekends.
