Dr. James Snyder, M.D., is a Harvard trained, Board Certified Psychiatrist with more than 20 years of clinical experience.
Dr. Snyder is well known for his sensitivity, careful clinical assessment and expertise in the psychopharmacological (medication) treatment of children, adolescents and adults with psychiatric disorders: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Autism Spectrum Disorders - Asperger's Syndrome, Mood Disorders, Tourette’s Disorder and Selective Mutism.
Dr. Snyder earned his medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine and then completed his Adult Psychiatry Residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in 1997.
Dr. Snyder has also served as Director of the ADHD Program at the North Shore - LIJ Health System, Psychiatrist to the Westbrook Preparatory School for High Functioning Autism in Westbury, NY and has held academic appointments as Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine and SUNY Stony Brook Department of Pediatrics.
Dr. Snyder is the owner and Founder of Long Island Psychiatric in Roslyn, recipient of the John J. Byrne Community Center Outstanding Advocate for Children & Youth Award and the author of Jimmy Racecar, a children’s book dealing with self esteem issues and ADHD.
Dr. Snyder is available for evaluation and treatment of children and adults in his private practice office in Roslyn, NY.
