Summary

  • I am passionate about medicine, particularly diagnostic radiology, and specifically about quantitative imaging in clinical oncology trials. I am honored to use my skills as a seasoned, thoughtful clinical radiologist in the world of oncology trials, hoping that my work is of benefit to those unfortunate enough to have to enroll in an oncology trial while also moving our collective knowledge forward for the world as a whole. After caring for thousands of patients in my clinical practice over several decades, I have been exceptionally fortunate to translate my work into the research arena where I have analyzed and evaluated many tens of thousands of scans over more than a decade. I have witnessed inspiring results, unlike any I ever came across in the clinical world, and have delighted with my partners as we watched our work ultimately achieve regulatory success and approval for general use. My latest professional achievement has been learning and implementing immune related response criteria (irRC) and immune related Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (irRECIST), which elegantly builds on the quantitative standards I so respect from my prior work, while embracing and allowing for the unique and important responses we are seeing with the exciting, successful immune-based treatments for a variety of cancers. I am quite certain we are entering a whole new world of immune based, genetically engineered cancer treatments set to radically alter our capabilities and perspectives on cancer as a whole, and I am thrilled to be a part of this process.
