He has a strong interest in cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, cornea surgery, and complex anterior segment surgery. In addition, he treats a wide variety of common eye conditions such as cataract, glaucoma, pterygium, dry eyes, diabetes, and macular degeneration. He has subspecialty training and experience in treating severe conditions associated with the front portion of the eye including keratoconus, Fuchs’ Dystrophy, recurrent corneal erosion syndrome, corneal scarring, Salzmann’s nodular degeneration, recurrent pterygium, ocular mucus membrane pemphigoid, iris/pupil defects, and intraocular lens dislocations and malpositions. Dr. Sbarbaro performs most common ophthalmic procedures such as cataract surgery, pterygium removal with tissue grafting, and eyelid procedures, but also has specialized training and experience in refractive cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and complex anterior segment surgery.

    Dr. Sbarbaro was born in Chicago, Illinois where his father was completing his cardiology training, and then spent most of his youth in Pueblo, Colorado. His parents still live there today. He grew up snow skiing with his family and loves to ski with his three children, 11-year-old Ella, 9-year-old Jim, and 7-year-old Teddy. He loves the typical outdoor Colorado activities such as biking and hiking, along with golf, gardening, and computers. Overall, he’s mainly a family man who enjoys spending time with his children and wife, Elissa.
