LCDR James Hegarty, MC USN is the Senior Medical Officer at the Naval Health Clinic in Groton, CT. Dr. Hegarty is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Additionally, he is currently the Department Head for Behavioral Health, Traumatic Brain Injury and Substance Abuse Programs at the Naval Health Clinic in Groton. Dr. Hegarty graduated from Georgetown University and earned his medical degree from NYCOM in 2008 before going on to complete an internship in Internal Medicine at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD from 2008-2009. Dr. Hegarty then completed a 3-year residency in Psychiatry at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center from 2009-2012 and he was appointed to serve as the Navy Chief Resident of Psychiatry in 2011-2012.

Dr. Hegarty is also currently a faculty member and affiliated with Yale University in New Haven, CT. He served as an attending Psychiatrist at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA prior to his current position as the Senior Medical Officer in Groton, CT.
