Summary
- In 2000, I completed a rural Family Practice Residency in El Dorado, AR, and moved to Clarksville, AR to begin my medical practice.
As a partner in a multi-physician Family Practice, I managed patient care across clinic, hospital, and nursing home settings, delivering 50-100 babies yearly, performing tubal ligations, cesareans, stress tests, EGDs, and colonoscopies.
Transitioning to a solo practice, I maintained these services while implementing Amazing Charts EHR and mastering Dragon Naturally Speaking, also engaging in the Amazing Charts community and speaking at their 2008 conference.
In 2008, I pioneered the hospitalist program at Johnson Regional Medical Center, managing all admissions and most inpatient care for three years, including weekend shifts. I then transitioned to ER physician roles due to staffing shortages, eventually becoming ER Medical Director in 2011.
As ER Medical Director, I helped implement Johnson Regional's first EMR, Picis, facilitating the hospital's achievement of Meaningful Use Stage I goals in 2012.
In 2013, we partnered with EmCare and together we addressed severe staffing shortfalls, optimized workflow, introduced new processes like AEDIT, reduced the LWOT rate from 14% to 2%, and improved various other operational metrics.
In 2015, our hospital partnered with SCP Health, and we built on previous successes, recruiting excellent physicians to our community, adding nurse practitioner coverage, meeting the challenges of COVID, and implementing Cerner EMR as part of a hospital-wide system conversion.
