- LCDR James J. Contestable is the Head of the Department of Dermatology at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune. He also works part-time at Dermatology Associates of Coastal Carolina. He is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and active-duty Naval Officer. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida and his M.D. at the Uniformed Services University where he was inducted into AOA and received the Navy Surgeon Generals award.
Dr. Contestable served onboard three US Navy aircraft carriers during deployments at sea as a flight surgeon and aeromedical evacuation specialist. He completed his residency in Dermatology at Naval Medical Center San Diego where he served at the House Staff Council President for the entire campus. He enjoys teaching residents, PA/NP students, and medical students daily in his clinic where future providers are educated in the treatment of skin disease. Dr. Contestable treats skin conditions in all ages and has a special interest in scar revision and rehabilitation.
