Summary
- Ten years’ worth of practice experience informs my unique respiratory expertise to diagnose and treat pediatric patients. Whether teaming up with other specialty consultants or primary physician, I bring a personal collaborative approach to each patient through thoughtful communication.
To become an osteopathic physician, I chose rural West Virginia at WVSOM; a medical school known for it’s ability to train physicians in primary care. From there I went onto serve pediatric patients of the Central Valley, California with the UCSF-Fresno General Pediatrics Residency. Here I cared for children with both common pediatric conditions (Community Regional Medical Center of Fresno was one of the busiest birthing centers in the state) and those specific to the region including a large underserved immigrant population.
Following this incredible primary care training opportunity, I fell in love with specialty care including those with operative procedures. Working with my hands has always been something moving to me, which is evident in my out-of-work passions such as art in a variety of mediums including oil painting, ink, pastel, and pencil on paper, printmaking, and ceramic wheel throwing.
Pediatric pulmonology and my love for teaching lured me toward academic medicine where following graduation with the fellowship with UC-Irvine, I joined as assistant professor and full-time clinical staff at the MemorialCare Women’s and Miller Children’s Hospital of Long Beach, CA. Working alongside, teaching and training fellows as I once was gave me great joy and satisfaction.
Seeking similar opportunities for research, publication, academic medicine while maintaining my roots as a pediatric pulmonary clinician, I returned to my home state of Colorado where I have joined National Jewish Health for Kids. Here I remain mostly clinical; my passion as a proceduralist is also thriving as I contribute in a multidisciplinary Aerodigestive clinic with RMHC!
