Summary
- Dr. Jaime Bashore Long is a native of Berks County and an alumnus of Penn State University and the College of Medicine. After completing fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) at The Mayo Clinic in Arizona, she returned to her home town in Berks County, PA to establish the subspecialty of FPMRS at the Reading Hospital, where she served as Chief of the FPMRS division for ten years. In 2018, she returned to the Penn State College of Medicine as a faculty member and assistant professor. There, she has been able to further her passion for improving the care of women through education, research, and patient-centered clinical care. Her scholarly work reflects this drive, and her many of her research projects are designed to improve patient care, including pain control and other operative outcomes. She is delighted to be teaching and mentoring medical students and residents at the Penn State College of Medicine as well.
She serves in several leadership roles in several national organizations, including Vice Chair of the Quality Committee of the American Urogynecologic Society, which helps create and publish guidelines for best practices in FPMRS. She is also Chair of Education for the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons, and president of the Penn State College of Medicine's Commission for Women. In 2021, she was recognized as a "Health Care Hero" by the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal for her commitment to women's health.
