- J. Antonio G. López, MD, FACC, FAHA, FACP, FCCP, FASE, FNLA, FASH, FASPC is Clinical Research Medical Director, Cardiovascular and Metabolic Therapeutic Area, Global Development at Amgen. He was most recently Cardiovascular Medical Director US Medical Organization and US Medical Organization CV Medical Advocacy Relations Lead at Amgen. He is a cardiologist, lipidologist, and hypertension specialist. Prior to joining Amgen in 2014, he was with Saint Alphonsus Medical Group Heart Care in Boise, Idaho. Dr. López was Director of Preventive Cardiology and CV Rehabilitation, Director of the Lipid Clinic, and Director of the LDL Apheresis Program at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. He also served as Chair of Cardiology at Saint Alphonsus. In addition, he was Chair of CV Research and Education, Director of the Hypertension Consultation Service, and Director of the Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) Program at Saint Alphonsus Medical Group Heart Care. His previous experience includes serving as Director of the Lipid Clinic and Director of CV Outpatient and Outreach Programs at the University of Iowa and Director of Cardiac Care and the Coronary Care Unit at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. He was also the Medical Director of Preventive Cardiology, CV Rehabilitation, the Lipid Clinic, and Prevention Center at the Prairie Heart Institute in Springfield, Illinois.
Dr. López received his medical degree Cum Laude from Harvard Medical School. He received the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation Merit Scholar Award at Harvard. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was a Research Fellow in the cardiac unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
