Overview of Dr. Pestana
Ivo A. Pestana, M.D., Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed residency in general surgery at University of Miami Jackson Memorial Medical Center and affiliated hospitals. During his general surgery training, he completed research fellowships in transplantation immunology and trauma medicine. Dr. Pestana completed plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center. During his plastic surgery training, Dr. Pestana completed rotations in hand surgery and microsurgery at the University of Louisville and The Christine M. Kleinert Institute. Dr. Pestana is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Pestana’s practice includes all areas of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery with special interest in breast reconstruction and body and breast contouring surgery. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Pestana has extensive experience in surgical education for all level of learners and his work in plastic and reconstructive surgery is widely published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
